Pleasant Hill Cellars 2008 Donatella, Columbia Valley, $26
By Great Northwest Wine on February 3, 2013
Owner/winemaker Larry Lindvig produces tiny amounts of wine at his operation in the Cascade foothills town of Carnation, Wash. This is a blend that leads with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. It opens with delicious and enticing aromas of roasted Kona coffee, plum, cherry, coconut and dark chocolate. On the palate, this beautiful blend provides a rich entry that gives way to ripe flavors of boysenberry, pomegranate and blueberry. It is all backed with ample acidity and modest tannins that lead to a pleasant finish.
Rating: Excellent
Production: 93 cases
Alcohol: 14.5%
