Westport Winery 2010 Boom Runner Reserve Merlot, Washington, $31
By Great Northwest Wine on February 20, 2013
The owners of this destination winery on the Washington coast drive as far as anyone in Washington to retrieve their grapes from the Columbia Valley east of the Cascade Mountains. This delicious reserve-level Merlot offers up aromas of cherry, ripe strawberry, cranberry and cedar, followed by flavors of red currant, Rainier cherry, blueberry and chocolate, all backed with supple tannins. Pair with prime rib, garlic pizza or a chef’s salad.
