Westport Winery NV Red Sky at Night, Washington, $30
By Great Northwest Wine on February 22, 2013
Co-owner Kim Roberts designs all the labels for this Washington coast winery. They always have a coastal theme and include a lighthouse on the front or back. This wine’s label is particularly beautiful because it features a rich summer sunset. In the bottle, this is a raspberry wine laced with chocolate, which is unusual and delicious. The aromas reminded us of a Tootsie Pop with cherry and blackberry, and the chocolate notes were enrapturing. On the palate, it’s all about raspberry, chocolate and a finish of caramel. We can imagine enjoying a glass of this while sitting around a beach fire eating s’mores.
