Stoller Family Estate 2010 Reserve Chardonnay, Dundee Hills, $28
Willamette Valley native Melissa Burr has spent the past decade at Stoller in the Dundee Hills and is making superb wine using estate grapes. And she has crafted a stunning Chardonnay from the cool, challenging 2010 vintage. This wine was fermented and aged in French oak, and that shows, though that aspect hardly takes center stage. Instead, this Chardonnay reveals aromas of pineapple, candy corn, lemon curd, ground savory and cantaloupe. On the palate, the bright acidity from the cooler vintage is evident, and that lifts the flavors of tropical fruit, blood orange, pear and lemon. We would suggest pairing this with poached salmon, tacos with mango salsa, chicken tikka masala or pasta in a cream sauce.
