Delfino Vineyard 2010 Syrah, Umpqua Valley, $22
By Great Northwest Wine on March 4, 2013
California escapees Terri and Jim Delfino were inspired to grow grapes and make wine in Southern Oregon after tasting a Tempranillo from Earl Jones and nearby Abacela. Today, the Delfinos operate a vineyard, tasting room and B&B on their bucolic property west of Roseburg. This yummy Syrah opens with aromas that reminds us of a cherry turnover, as well as hints of oak, mint and blackberry. On the palate, it reveals flavors of Marionberry, milk chocolate and juicy cherry. Moderate tannins back all the delicious fruit.
