Dunham Cellars 2010 Lewis Estate Vineyard Riesling, Columbia Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on March 11, 2013
Founding winemaker Eric Dunham was among the first to recognize the promise of this Yakima Valley vineyard, quickly embarking on a long-term relationship for red and white grapes. That Riesling allows Dunham and winemaker Daniel Wampfler to create a wine reminiscent of the Rhine, opening with aromas of baked pineapple, peach, honey, lemon, lime and yellow rose. It’s a bit more tropical in the mouth with flavors of Juicy Fruit gum, followed by more peach and a drizzle of honey viscosity, backed by mouthwatering acidity to balance the residual sugar (2.1%). Pair with Curry Chicken over Jasmine Rice, a recipe from Walla Walla chef Andrae Bopp.
