The 2009 version of this wine won all kinds of accolades, including a Platinum from Wine Press Northwest and best in show at last year’s Northwest Wine Summit competition. And it would appear the Dusted Valley boys were up to the task of matching the quality of their first effort with the noble Petite Sirah. This opens with aromas of vanilla extract, intense dark fruit and black pepper. On the palate, it is a powerful wine with rich flavors of dark chocolate, boysenberry syrup, pomegranate and boysenberry. Big acidity and loads of fruit help keep the high alcohol in check. This will age beautifully for several years or pair now with grilled ribeye.
