alexandria-nicole-cellars-purple-reign-grenache-bottlePurple notes rule this limited-production release, starting with fresh president plums, blueberry and blackberry aromas, followed by violets, rosemary and black pepper. Inside are elegant fruity flavors of more blueberry, plum, blackberry, boysenberry and red cherry. The hallmark of the drink is remarkable juicy acidity akin to pomegranate, while barrel notes are in the background with the medium tannins. This summer, executive chef Frank Magaña paired this at a Farm to Fork winemaker dinner, serving Smoked Lamb Shank with Roasted Pepper, Stuffed Blue Corn Tamales and Roasted Pasilla Remoulade.
