gifford-hirlinger-tempranillo-2010-bottleIdaho Panhandle product Mike Berghan is the grower and winemaker at his family’s stylish headquarters on Stateline Road in the Walla Walla Valley, and his work with single-variety bottlings continues to impress. The early-ripening Spanish grape offers gorgeous spice aromas of cinnamon bark and vanilla bean just in front of blackberry, cherry, strawberry and black currant. It’s indeed a mouthful with Bing cherry, currant and cocoa powder, all framed by sandy tannins and bittersweet chocolate.

Rating: Excellent
