Boomtown 2012 Pinot Gris, Washington, $16

By on November 19, 2013

boomtown-pinot-gris-2012-bottleWashington recently surpassed Oregon in production of Pinot Gris, and the boys at Dusted Valley Vintners in Walla Walla made nearly three times as much Pinot Gris than Chardonnay under their Boomtown brand in 2012. It’s hard to choose one over the over because both earned our top rating this year. Here, the nose opens with bright notes of grapefruit, lemon, pear, dried papaya and candy corn. There’s a smooth transition to the palate, which  is gorgeous with grapefruit, lemon and Asian pear flavors. Incredible acidity takes on some clove in the finish.

Rating: Outstanding!

Production: 3,528 cases

Alcohol: 12.9%
