By on December 19, 2013

Columbia Crest Walter Clore Private Reserve bottleThree of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates’ top grape sources, Beverly just north of the Wahluke Slope, StoneTree on the Wahluke Slope and Wautoma Springs overlooking the Wahluke Slope — come together for this annual tribute to “The Father of Washington wine.” The blend of Merlot (53%), Cabernet Sauvignon (36%) and Cabernet Franc spent 26 months in 100% new French oak, which leads to aromas of graham cracker, cinnamon powder and blackberry and Bing cherry. On the palate is a welcoming of sweet cherry and strawberry, supported by sandy tannins and a lingering cherry jam finish.
