4. Dusted Valley Vintners 2011 StoneTree Vineyard Petite Sirah, Wahluke Slope, $42
Long known for Syrah, the boys at Dusted Valley Vintners have taken a liking to its bigger, bolder cousin in recent years. The grapes for this wine come from one of Washington’s top vineyards, StoneTree on the upper reaches of the Wahluke Slope. It’s a rich wine with complex aromas of black pepper, dark plum, blackberry and dark chocolate, followed by bold yet harmonious flavors of ripe dark fruit, black licorice and spice. Layers of minerality play with the acidity and tannins of this beautiful and complete wine.
