By on January 31, 2014

angel-vine-zinfandel-bottleThe grape-growing Gunkel family near Maryhill Winery operates along Avery Road, hence the name for one of their vineyards. Winemaker Ed Fus in Carlton, Ore., brought these Zinfandel grapes in Oct. 15, and the nose is reminiscent of black cherry, black pepper, pipe tobacco and toasted oak. The drink is bright and straightforward with dried strawberry, Montmorency cherry and pomegranate with cherry-skin tannins.
