Delfino Vineyards 2011 Dolcetto, Umpqua Valley, $23

By on March 12, 2014

delfino-vineyards-dolcetto-2011Roseburg, Ore., grower/winemaker Jim Delfino gets a helping hand from Ashland’s Linda Donovan for the wines which serve as a centerpiece for the charming B&B at Delfino. The nose of this lives up to its Italian name — the little sweet one — with hints of raspberries and sweet cherries amid toasted coconut and coffee. The palate is racy with cranberries, pie cherries and pomegranate as the acidity stays far ahead of the tannin structure. Suggested fare includes pasta covered with a marinara sauce.
