cave-b-estate-winery-cuvee-du-soleil-2010-bottleFreddy Arredondo’s blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (38%), Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Malbec certainly fits the bill of a Meritage-style wine — his best red wine done in a reserve style. Dusty cherry, dark plums, caramel, molasses, crushed walnut and cocoa powder aromas swirl into a viscous drink of chocolate-covered blueberries and plum sauce. The tannin management is masterful, and pleasing acidity provides delicious length. His cuvée has performed well in regional judgings in recent years, and its gold at the 2014 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Competition serves as validation.
