Purple Star Wines 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley, $11

By on March 23, 2014

Purple Star Wines 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Best Buy! Washington state winemakers Kyle and Amy Johnson continue to grow their young brand, particularly in the Portland area. Their success and expansion translates into increasing support — 15 percent of their proceeds — of Seattle Children’s Hospital. They reach into Caliche Lake Vineyard, a site in the new Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley American Viticultural Area, for their Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a brisk white with tones of Asian pear, sweet herbs, lemongrass, fresh lime juice, white pepper and minerality. Enjoy with Tex-Mex or a fritatta.
