Sonoris Wines 2012 Verna Mae Viognier, Columbia Valley, $22

By on March 29, 2014

sonoris-wines-verna-mae-viognier-2012-labelHillary Sjolund collaborates with Wine Boss in Richland, Wash., and that relationship has helped her gain access to Gamache Vineyard in Basin City — the source of this stainless steel, yet slightly creamy Viognier that’s a tribute to her late grandmother. It offers stunning aromas of dusty pear, dried pineapple and French vanilla ice cream. The entry is clean with flavors of Golden Delicious apple and cantaloupe, features a bit of creaminess in the midpalate, then finished with ample acidity and a bite of pear skin. Look for this in Seattle at The Pink Door, Esquin and Wine World, in Renton at All Things Wine and Wine Alley, in Bothell at Russell’s Restaurant and in Woodinville at The Barking Frog.
