Northwest Cellars 2012 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $16

By on May 29, 2014

northwest-cellars-chardonnay-2012-labelThe winemaking tandem of Robert Smasne and Bob Delf blended Chardonnay from Desert Wind Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope with Viognier (7%) from Upland Vineyard on Snipes Mountain for a fruit-forward Chardonnay with a touch of richness. Its aromas lead with Golden Delicious apple, jicama and Granny Smith apple peel. The Golden Delicious apple dominates the palate, backed by pear butter and finished with lemon oil and a bit of citrus pith. Look for the artist’s rendering of Snoqualmie Falls at QFC stores throughout the Puget Sound and in the shared tasting room at The Alley in Kirkland.
