There’s often a subtle dustiness in the nose found in wines made from Horse Heaven Hills fruit, and you get a sense for that in this bottling by this historic farming family. Not far from their Prosser, Wash., tasting room is the production facility for Chukar Cherries, and the nose is akin to their chipotle-influenced cherry dusted in cocoa powder, along with blackberries and dark chocolate. The drink asserts itself early with frontal tannins that turn suave and make for a medium structure amid flavors of cherry, blueberry and coffee, finished by a trail of boysenberry juice.
