While it’s not uncommon to find Gewürztraminer and Riesling blended in the Alsace, the Finger Lakes or British Columbia, it’s a bit unusual in Washington, yet Dana Roberts does it deliciously off-dry thanks to one of state’s most respected vineyards. The aromatics flash signs of both varities, starting with lychee, pink grapefruit and sweet spices from the Gewürz as it picks up hints of jasmine, lavender and gooseberry. Tasty flavors of ambrosia salad, tangerine, Uncola and more jasmine make it difficult not to swallow. While the 1.5% residual sugar trickles out in the finish, there’s a great deal going for this brunch wine. Enjoy with an egg salad sandwich or make some history with it around the hot tub. And a portion of the proceeds from this wine go to the Aberdeen Museum of History.
