chateau-ste-michelle-canoe-ridge-estate-merlot-nv-bottleSte. Michelle Wine Estates planted its site along historic Canoe Ridge in 1991, and these mature vines overlooking the Columbia River east of Goldendale allow Raymon McKee to craft a Merlot with a tannin structure more relaxed than many in Washington. His choice of 54% new oak — most of it American — produces notes of roasted coffee, dark toast with a fruit theme of Marionberry and blueberry. Suggested pairings include lamb or pasta with Italian seasoning.
