Diversion Wine 2012 Majestic Red, Washington, $20

By on January 26, 2015

Diversion-Majestic Red-Washington-2012-BottleKate Michaud’s résumé in Washington state includes Canoe Ridge Vineyard in Walla Walla and Covey Run in the Yakima Valley. The University of Oregon grad recently began orchestrating the blending for Seattle negoçiant Damian Davis, and she’s found a delicious formula with Cabernet Sauvignon (49%), Merlot (39%), Malbec (7%) and Petit Verdot. Aromas of red currant, red plum and Van cherry pick up nuances of cinnamon, molasses, sweet spice, toasted almond and crushed leaf. The entry is rich and smooth with currant, cherry, huckleberry and blueberry, backed by sandy tannins and juicy acidity. Suggested pairings include Beecher’s Marco Polo cheese, a creamier offering featuring green and black pepper.
