northwest-mountain-winery-syrah-2011-labelCapital city winemaker Ray Curtis brought in grapes picked Oct. 12 from Cave B Vineyards near the Gorge Amphitheater, and there’s plenty of life ahead for this vibrant Syrah. Classic aromas of bacon, dark ripe plum and chocolate-covered blueberry include black olive, white pepper and candela leaf tobacco. Vivid flavors of blueberry, pomegranate and plum come with gobs of acidity, toothsome tannins and cracked green peppercorns.
