Goose Ridge Vineyards 2010 Vireo, Columbia Valley, $35

By on March 27, 2015

goose-ridge-vineyards-vireo-2010-bottleCanadian import Kendall Mix created a hedonistic and luscious blend of Syrah (40%), Merlot (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon for the Monson family before he moved on to Cadaretta in the Walla Walla Valley. The barrel program of 25 months in 60% new oak makes for alluring aromas of black cherry, black currant, raspberry and violet with Moroccan spices, cocoa powder and cinnamon. Its entry is rich with the focus on dark plum, Marionberry and black currant flavors. Moderate tannins provide support and create length. The wine earned a gold medal at the 2015 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Awards.

Rating: Outstanding!
