Mill Lane Winery NV Strawberry Wine, Washington, $14

By on April 25, 2015

Mill-Lane-Winery-Strawberry-Washington-NV-LabelBest Buy! Dan Ferris retired from the Air Force earlier this decade, moving from the dry side of Washington state to the capital city suburb of Tenino. He’s made fruit wines a focus of his since launching Mill Lane Winery in 2012, and his product of local strawberries is an approachable one, starting with aromas of wild strawberry, cotton candy, plum juice and allspice. The drink is clean and rich, offering flavors of Cara Cara orange and strawberry hard candy. It’s off-dry at 4% residual sugar, but Mandarin orange acidity gives it balance and makes it a good entry point for those new to wine.
