Behind the label of Washington’s most overlooked brands is a tradition of strong winemaking, starting with founding winemaker Brian Carter, including Peter Devison (now at EFESTE) and then until recently, Ron Bunnell, formerly head winemaker of Chateau Ste. Michelle. Bunnell’s touch shows early on with beautiful aromas of vanilla extract, black cherry, blueberry, sage, moist earth and chocolate syrup. There’s immediate and long-lasting balance found within the drink of dark plum, Chukar Cherry, plump blueberry and Marionberry. The rich farewell conjures up thoughts of a moist brownie fresh out of the oven.
