MENLO PARK, Calif. – Pacific Northwest wineries brought home 49 medals from one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious international wine judgings.

The Sunset International Wine Competition took place in April at the magazine’s longtime campus in the heart of Silicon Valley near Stanford University. It is the final year that the competition will take place there, as Sunset owner Time/Life is selling the 17-acre property. Sunset’s new test gardens and kitchens will be relocating to Sonoma, Calif., while the magazine’s corporate offices will move to Oakland.

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, based in Woodinville, Wash., showed particularly well, earning five gold medals for such brands as Chateau Ste. Michelle, Northstar, Seven Falls and Michelle Sparkling Wines.

Northwest Wine Co. in Dundee, Ore., led by winemaker Laurent Montalieu, won three gold medals for its Hyland and Solena wines.

And L’Ecole No. 41’s 2012 Ferguson Vineyard won a gold. This is the followup vintage to the wine that earned a top award for Bordeaux-style blends a year ago at the Decanter World Wine Awards in London.

Here are the complete Northwest results of the 2015 Sunset International Wine Competition.
