Seattle vintner Damian Davis continues to expand the scope of his Rainier Wine Co., beyond his Diversion and Portlandia brands by establishing partnerships with some of the Puget Sound’s boutique wineries. Denizen is a collaboration with Timothy Narby and :Nota Bene Cellars, and they’ve created a two-barrel Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (24%), Malbec (12%) and Cabernet Franc that’s primarily from two Wahluke Slope sites — StoneTree and Arianses. It carries an Old World flair with tones of red currant and cherry, wild game, minerality, alfalfa and timothy hay, framed by intense tannins and racy acidity. Enjoy with rack of lamb, elk, grilled portobello mushroom burger or truffle-influenced risotto.
