Walla Walla Valley vintners Corey Braunel and Chad Johnson continue to deepen their collaboration with the Milbrandt brothers’ Wahluke Wine Co., and this latest vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon marks their largest bottling under the Boomtown project, which has grown beyond 20,000 cases. It starts with aromas of Simpkins Blackcurrant Travel Sweets and elderberry, picking up hints of sour cherry, black licorice, Liquid Smoke, lavender and pipe tobacco. What comes next is an easy, uncomplicated and fruity drink of blackberries and cherry juice with breezy tannins, ample acidity and a pinch of sweet pipe tobacco to add complexity.
