14 Hands Winery 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, Washington, $12

By on October 10, 2015

14 Hands Winery-2014-Sauvignon Blanc BottleBest Buy! Keith Kenison spent years crafting the award-winning white program at Columbia Crest before overseeing the entire program at 14 Hands in Prosser. His work with Sauvignon Blanc for one of America’s hottest brands is particularly impressive considering the historically hot vintage. The inclusion of Sèmillon (8%) leads to approachable aromas of gooseberry pie, spearmint and fig as there’s no hint of tomcat at any level. On the palate, it’s very pleasing as layers of gooseberry, lavender and fig lead to flavors of lime sorbet topped with a spring of mint. Suggested pairings range from seafood salads, Spring Green Salad with Goat Cheese, grilled swordfish and  oysters on the half shell.
