14 Hands Winery 2013 Chardonnay, Washington, $12

By on October 19, 2015

14 Hands Winery-2013-Chardonnay BottleBest Buy! One of the Pacific Northwest’s largest and most affordable offerings of Chardonnay also ranks as one of the region’s most approachable. The nose offers fresh-cut Gala apple, honeysuckle, lemon chiffon, jicama and dusty minerality. Inside, its akin to a delicious bite of a fresh caramel apple, backed by white peach and light butter notes —  a sign of the 20 percent primarily neutral barrel fermentation. The rather tart finish of a lemon bar adds refreshing juiciness and creates thoughts of grilled halibut with mango salsa. Suggested pairings also include roasted chicken, Lemon Pepper Salmon, Seafood Alfredo or Caesar Salad.
