83. O•S Winery 2013 Sonas Cabernet Franc, Yakima Valley, $25

os-winery-sonas-cabernet-franc-2013-label 1Yakima Valley winemaker Scott Greer furthers his relationship with one of Seattle’s top urban wineries inside this tier for second-generation vintner Peggy Sullivan. There’s remarkable richness to this expression of Cabernet Franc, which stays true to the variety with notes of Chukar Cherry, sweet tobacco, forest floor and mint leaves as rich toasty notes add depth rather than distraction. On the attack, there’s follow through with black cherries and black currant flavors, making for a plush midpalate. Milk chocolate tannins and Montmorency cherry acidity combine for a delicious finish that’s capped by white pepper.

Rating: Outstanding!

Production: 400 cases
