34. Saviah Cellars 2012 Tempranillo, Walla Walla Valley, $38

saviah-cellars-tempranillo-2012-bottleWalla Walla Valley vintner Richard Funk reaches into his estate vineyard in The Rocks, Dugger Creek and nearby Watermill Estate for this rare example of Tempranillo from northeast Oregon. Aromas of boysenberry, black currant, elderberry and huckleberry include a dusting of cocoa powder. The structure is one of ripe blueberries and blackberries with sublime tannins and ample acidity.

Rating: Outstanding!
