14. Anam Cara Cellars 2012 Nicholas Estate Pinot Noir, Chehalem Mountains, $33

anam-cara-pnSheila and Nick Nicholas run this vineyard and winery in a beautiful location in the hills above Newberg, Ore., and their wines have developed into some of the best in the Willamette Valley. This example of Pinot Noir from a superb vintage reveals aromas of red plum, a hint of purple lavender and red cherry. On the palate, it offers flavors of elegant red fruit backed by mild tannins and bright acidity.

Alcohol: 14.2%
