Pepper Bridge Winery 2012 Trine Red Wine, Walla Walla Valley, $65

By on January 22, 2016

pepper-bridge-winery-trine-nv-bottleFor the first time in five vintages, Jean-François Pellet chose to create this Meritage-style blend with Cabernet Franc (37%) taking the lead, while Cabernet Sauvignon (27%), Merlot (23%), Malbec (7%) and Petit Verdot fill in. That explains the lovely profile of red currants and dusty herbs with cherry, licorice and mocha. The high tones of bright red fruit, fascinating tannins and vibrant acidity make for a lovely structure. While it’s built for the long haul, enjoy it in the meantime with a rib eye, T-bone or a cheese plate.
