L. Donovan Wines 2014 Viognier, Rogue Valley, $18

By on January 23, 2016

l-donovan-reserve-viognier-2014-label2Linda Donovan is the talent behind many of the wines in Oregon’s Rogue Valley, but here is her own program that she creates as her Pallet Wine Co., operation. Three vineyards factor into this complex Viognier –  Chamberland, Pearl Family and Gold — and she trusted the fermentation to indigenous yeast before giving it time in neutral oak barrels. Fanciful aromas of orange blossom, French vanilla and toast also offer freshly sliced green banana and a touch of minerality. Its bright entry and crisp profile from start to finish brings along Asian pear and orange zest flavors. The clean finish with hint of toast will marry nicely with chicken and rich seafood dishes.
