Lauren Ashton Cellars 2014 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $25

By on August 23, 2016

lauren-ashton-cellars-chardonnay-2014-labelPuget Sound dentist Kit Singh and his wife, Riinu, named their winery to honor their children Ashley Lauren and Ashton Troy, and this bottling of Chardonnay from Harker Vineyard marks the sixth commercial vintage for their Woodinville brand. Only a small selction of their lot spent time in new French oak, and the partial malolactic fermentation builds a rounded midpalate. Aromas of ripe apple and pear with French bread and a dusting of lemon pepper and ground savory lead to the rich entry of Gala apple and Bosc pear. Beyond the creamy midpalate, a cleansing burst of fresh-squeezed lemon and apricot in the finish make for enjoyable length and marriages with roasted chicken, lobster, shrimp or cream-based pasta dishes.
