Milo and Kay May established their vineyard in 2005 overlooking the Crow Butte Park and the Columbia River west of Paterson, Wash., and their grapes are featured in Passing Time’s heralded wines. Chris Peterson makes the wines for those two retired quarterbacks, so knows as well as anyone how delicious the Mays grapes are. This bottling under the brand he owns with ex-Microsoft exec Marty Taucher signals the debut of their Le Corbeau project, the French word for raven, and it’s a filled with dark berries. Aromas of sugared plums and huckleberry taffy are joined by dried cherries, cinnamon toast and cinder dust. Inside, it’s about plum jam and Knott’s Boysenberry Syrup, making for remarkable balance, a savory finish and an easy sell at the Woodinville tasting room.
