Airfield Estates 2015 Dauntless Red Wine, Yakima Valley, $18

By on June 17, 2017

The Miller family creates this all-estate Right Bank Bordeaux-style blend with thought, exemplified in the precise percentages of Merlot (69%), Cabernet Sauvignon (11%), Cabernet Franc (9%), Malbec (8%) and Petit Verdot. Baking spices, toast and violet aromas include black cherry and cassis. The sturdiness of Washington Merlot provides the baseline to the dark fruit flavors of black cherry and plum skins, backed by pomegranate acidity. The structure makes it ideal with suggested dishes such as Beef Wellington, Beef Stroganoff, turkey or soft cheeses.
