The Gladhart family established its vineyard in 1991, and their immediate neighbors along the upper reaches of this southernmost portion of the Dundee Hills include the likes of Domaine Serene and Stoller. A smooth growing season across their Salmon Safe site at 730 feet elevation paved the way for this six-barrel production. The 14 months in oak makes for sweet aromas of cherry pie and sprinkles of cinnamon sugar. Dramatic flavors of blueberry and Marionberry pick up touches of lavender and jasmine as the tremendously balanced structure allows for lasting notes of Jolly Rancher grape candy, white pepper and allspice. Acclaimed chef Dustin Clark of Besaw’s and The Solo Club in Portland paired this with mesquite-roasted New York strip, smoked shell beans, chanterelle mushrooms and salsa verde as a centerpiece of an Oregon Wine Country Lunch for the 2017 International Pinot Noir Celebration.
