Dumas Station Wines presents new releases, Loren Lukens pottery

DAYTON, Wash. — Dumas Station Wines is hosting a large art exhibit the weekend of May 2-4 with Loren Lukens, who is bringing his work from Seattle for this event. A lot of wineries in the Walla Walla Valley play host to art exhibits, but not many present pottery along with the artist.

What’s unique about Loren’s work? His pottery is functional — it doesn’t just sit on a shelf. In addition to beautiful vases, Loren creates tableware — dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and mugs–that all match. Aesthetically beautiful, but also useful.

Dumas Station will be releasing its new 2012 Merlot and pouring this alongside other wines just released in April.

No tasting fees? Friday, May 2 marks the beginning of no tasting fees at Dumas Station. Jay DeWitt, owner and winemaker at Dumas Station, says “Since we’re not on the main wine circuit in Walla Walla, we don’t get all of the tourists. The people that come visit us have usually been recommended by friends or family members. They come for the wine, and end up staying because they feel comfortable with us and the lack of pretention. We’re just farmers who happen to make some really good wine.”

Hours for Spring Release Weekend at Dumas Station:
Friday: 1-5 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
