Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden 2009 Syrah 80, Applegate Valley, $35

By on June 4, 2013

Oregon wineAs one might figure out from the name of this winery in Southern Oregon, Cowhorn is dedicated to biodynamic and sustainable practices at its winery and in its vineyards. This uses estate-grown grapes from the high-elevation Applegate Valley. It opens with aromas of marjoram, saddle leather, chocolate and espresso, followed by flavors of boysenberry, pomegranate and toffee. Its tannins are pliable and approachable and provide enough structure for a fairly lengthy finish.
