Apex Cellars 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley, $18

By on December 7, 2013

apex-cellars-sauvignon-blanc-bottleRon Bunnell, former Chateau Ste. Michelle head winemaker, took over this program in Prosser, Wash., for Precept in time for this vintage, and he shows his mastery with this white Bordeaux variety. The winning formula starts with what has become Apex’s trusted troika of Sauvignon Blanc sources — A&R, Oasis and Willard, which makes for classic aromas of gooseberry, Granny Smith apple, dried herbs and lemongrass. The drink is bright, sassy and dry from the start with yellow grapefruit, green apple and grassiness with lime pith in the finish. And it’s available at the Apex tasting rooms in Woodinville and at the Vintners Village in Prosser — near Bunnell Family Cellar.
