Kaella Winery 2011 Ciel du Cheval Sangiovese, Red Mountain, $25

kaella-winery-ciel-du-cheval-sangiovese-bottleAdditions of Cabernet Sauvignon (7%) and Merlot (7%) have prompted this boutique Woodinville winery to playfully refer to this as their “Red Mountain Chianti.” The nose comes with hints of black currant candy, cherry taffy, raspberry and chocolate, while the palate brings dark plum, red currant and dried cranberry as well as barrel notes of chocolate and toast.
