Northwest wines shine at Riverside International Wine Competition

TEMECULA, Calif. – Fourteen Northwest wineries earned best-in-class status earlier this week at the prestigious Riverside International Wine Competition.

Riverside International Wine CompetitionIn all, wineries from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Idaho won 41 double gold and gold medals and 204 medals overall at the 33rd annual competition, run by Dan Berger. Forty-four professional judges evaluated about 1,900 wines over two days at the South Coast Winery resort in the Southern California city of Temecula.

In addition to the medals, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery in Oliver, British Columbia, was recognized for “Terroir Winery of the Year.” And Wild Goose Vineyards in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia, and Willow Crest in Prosser, Wash., were awarded International Riesling Foundation trophies.
