westport-winery-elk-river-riesling-nv-labelOne of the highest elevation sites in the Yakima Valley also has been a historic site for Riesling, and this off-dry style is akin to walking through an apple orchard. Aromas of Jolly Rancher green apple candy, baked apple, Bartlett pear, cotton candy and Scotch Magic Tape. Rich flavors of Golden Delicious apple sauce and cantaloupe lead to a midpalate of juicy pear and a finish of maraschino cherry to balance the residual sugar of 2.5 percent.  Proceeds from the sales of this wine — named for the nearby Elk River — benefit the Twin Harbors Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
