Brian Carter Cellars 2010 Corrida, Columbia Valley, $40

By on December 23, 2014

brian-carter-cellars-corrida-nv-labelTempranillo from StoneTree Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope and Upland Vineyard on Snipes Mountain takes charge in this bullfight of a blend that includes Graciano (12%) from Upland as well as Merlot (11%) off Chandler Reach, Cabernet Sauvignon from Klipsun on Red Mountain and Garnacha. There’s a great deal to like in this Spanish-themed melange, starting with a nose of cola, black cherry, blackberry and shredded wheat, backed by gaminess, baking spice and cigar box cedar. The drink is mouthfilling with plums, pomegranate and blueberry, bringing juicy acidity and medium tannins that are followed by a smoky and sexy finish reminiscent of Lauren Bacall.
