ryan-patrick-vineyards-rock-island-red-2012-bottleThis big and tasty blend by Mattawa, Wash., winemaker Jeremy Santo gathers up Merlot (58%), Syrah (35%), Petite Sirah (5%) and Primitivo picked beyond 26 Brix from Katherine Leone, King Fuji, Clifton and Northridge vineyards. Aromas of blueberry milkshake and black currant also offer up molasses, walnut and baking spices. Those dark, blue fruit tones return with a rush of long and powerful tannins that keep pushing.
