Sagelands Vineyard 2012 Riesling, Columbia Valley, $8

Sagelands Vineyard-2012-RieslingBest Buy! There’s a fair bit of underlying complexity swirling within the off-dry Riesling under this longtime Washington brand that’s been revived by Seattle-based Precept Wine. Its nose is fresh and bright with Golden Delicious apple, diesel and lychee, and there’s some elegance to the palate with pear and more apple flavors. The residual sugar of 3% and lower alcohol makes for a tasty finish and well-served alongside spicy Asian dishes or cheeses such as extra-sharp cheddar and aged Gouda.
