raptor-ridge-winery-pinot-gris-2014-labelLast year’s robust vintage provided this Newberg, Ore., winery with the largest production of Pinot Gris in its 20-year history, and the harvest from five sites — including renowned Meredith Mitchell near McMinnville and Dai Crisp-managed Rudolfo Vineyard in Corvallis — spanned Sept. 15-27. The nose is bright and rich with aromas of ripe pear, tangerine, lemon zest and butterscotch candy, followed by flavors of Gala apple, Asian pear and caramel with a finish of river rock. Suggested fare includes Thai Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala.
